Tom Hiddleston on playing Loki [x]

Attending the UK opening night for The Book of Mormon, Tom Hiddleston did his best to avoid spoilers for Thor 2. He was extremely careful to avoid giving anything away but he did  tease that there will be a surprising development between Thor and Loki :[Video Link Here]

With a new director can fans expect a slight change in tone? 
[Pause….] Yes, what can I say…I just want to reassure you that it’s going to be great. It’s darker in every respect I suppose in tone and Alan Taylor’s vision was tremendous. It’s really hard to say, I wish I could tell you but I kind of want to hold it back so that it’s new when you see it. I know that it will be exciting but I’m not going to say too much. 

This being their third film together, does the strengthened real-life relationship between Tom and Chris Hemsworth bring a new dynamic between Thor and Loki in Thor: The Dark World? 

There’s a development. There’s a logical or perhaps surprising development that I hope will be pleasing. 

Tom Hiddleston spoke during the South Bank Sky Arts Awards and teased Thor 2’s villain Malekith played by Christopher Eccleston. Praising his co-star, Hiddleston explains, carefully not to spoil, his God of Mischief’s relationship to the Dark Elf ruler: VIDEO HERE

“Christopher Eccleston is one of Britain’s greatest actors, he brings a degree of commitment, intelligence, conviction and complexity to everything he does. I think he really got his teeth into this thing [playing Malekith]. It’s hard to say anything without giving away too much. Christopher has enormous presence, which is very distinguishable on stage as well as film. It’s one of those things you can’t really define, you just can’t stop watching him when he’s on screen. I think he’ll be absolutely magnetic [in the movie]. Malekith has his own ambition. Whether or not Loki can coincide with or contradict, subvert or enhance that ambition remains to be seen.”

Now that we’re finally in the year of the Marvel sequel’s Fall release date, the first visuals from Thor: The Dark World are sure to come sooner than later. However, without specified dates of a marketing push, we at least have more teasing from ‘Loki’ actor Tom Hiddleston. The English star recently chatted about The Dark World’s “amazing,” never-before-seen direction. 

“It’s fantastic, truly. We are making an amazing film, and we’re having a wonderful time. It’s so exciting to have established characters and an established setting in the world, and we are working so hard to cook up something new. That is what is exciting to me - taking what we know, taking what we love and deepening it and giving it an extra dimension. I think director Alan Taylor is really shaping up the world of Asgard and the world of these characters”
