From Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive in-depth chat with Robert Downey Jr, the actor speaks on a key scene in the threequel as well as Tony Stark’s dynamic with James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes. Whether Black’s direction has changed the film’s approach to action scenes,
Downey says, “We’ve just been talking about one sequence – the top-secret name is the Boot/Glove Sequence, I can tell you that, just between you and me – it’s where Tony only has one gauntlet and one boot and he has to escape multiple captors. It’s really fun, dude. We’re taking everything from his first gauntlet test in the first movie up through the most extreme stuff we thought up for Iron Man 2 and The Avengers and pulling on all of it and making this one big, extended challenge of physics.”
As far as new and returning cast members, when asked to choose one and explain what they brought to the table, Robert asserts, “Since I was just talking about Flight and Don is on my mind, I’ll start with him. Rhodey is much more in the dead center of things. He’s much more dynamic. We’ve made this decision that while Tony is a technical guy, he’s not really a trained guy. There’s a lot of fun to be had with Don because he’s really good with hardware and he’s a martial artist, so it’s been really fun exploiting this possibility of Tony having moments like the one in Avengers, like the one with Cap where he decides, “Oh screw it, he probably knows what he’s doing.” So there’s a lot of that and a lot more fun and a lot more depth to Rhodey this time around.”
Nuts, recently spoke with Robert Downey Jr. in anticipation of next summer’s much-awaited Iron Man 3 techno-thriller. The ‘Tony Stark’ actor was first questioned how tough was principal photography, which wrapped this month, to which Downey replied, “I’ve always said that while I’m physically able, I want to do all my own stunts in the movies that I make. I want the audience to sit there, thinking, ‘was he really stupid enough to attempt that?’ I actually hurt my ankle in a stunt and filming was shut down for a few days.”
Director and co-writer Shane Black had previously proclaimed his entry to the Iron Man franchise is considered an international, crisis thriller. That classification being much different from the 2010 sequel, Robert Downey Jr. asserts, “I think Shane’s gone for a dark feel in this movie. It’s a lot grittier and goes back to its comic-book roots. It’s shaped into a really special movie - and Shane as been instrument in that.”
About his antagonist, the Ten Rings terrorist leader, The Mandarin, and his portrayal by Oscar-winner Sir Ben Kingsley, Downey declares, “I always think there’s something more terrifying about a villain who’s a genius, as opposed to just relying on strength or ability. We all know what a fantastic actor Ben Kingsley is, and he pulls off the evil genius with real terrifying results.”
Lastly, Robert Downey Jr. was facetiously asked what would he do if he had the actual Iron Man suit for just a day, in which the two-time Academy Award-nominated actor replied, “You know, you guys are probably looking for a really cool answer, but I live in Malibu and traffic getting into LA can be crazy. I’d use it just to fly straight into the city for a meeting or dinner.”

Marvel Entertainment International President Simon Philips recently gave a talk in São Paulo, Brazil and said something he probably shouldn’t have. Apparently Tony Stark isn’t the only wearing armor in Iron Man 3 – Pepper Potts is suiting up!
At the last San Diego Comic-Con, director Jon Favreau revealed Gwyneth Paltrow almost had the opportunity to wear her own Iron Man armor in the previous films. “We almost did it a few times; we talked about it a lot. I think we all share your enthusiasm for that, and we all want to see Gwyneth kick a little ass,” he said. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige seconded the notion of wanting to see it happen. ”Everyone at this table thinks it would be the coolest thing in the world to see Pepper get in the suit at some point,” he said.
Looks like they finally decided to implement the fantastic idea with director Shane Black.
ComicBookMovie.com reported the news in what I’m hoping wasn’t just a big game of telephone. They had the info from Brazilian entertainment site, Omelete, which no longer has the news online, but instead has a message that reads “information removed at the request of Disney.” Something tells me that’s a good sign. Here’s what CBM wrote:
A transcription of the spoilerific report, via Protocida, reveals that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) will eventually have an underground Hall of Armors with at least 16 new armors, including a few classic designs from the comics. Simon Philips also revealed, or confirmed, that Virginia Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) will indeed get in on the action, this time by donning her own suit of armor.
We’ve already seen quite a number of suits in one of the Iron Man 3 posters, as well as a few different designs in a few photos, but we’ve yet to see a glimpse of Paltrow doing anything having to do with a suit of her own. (Mostly just getting caught by the bad guys and blown up.) But many of you know the character of Pepper Potts is more than just an assistant/girlfriend of Tony Stark, she’s donned her own armor as the hero Rescue in Marvel Comics. We don’t yet know if she’ll suit up for long in the film, if the armor will be a gift from Tony, or if she’ll cobble one together on her own to “rescue” her fella. I’m voting for the latter.Source:http://www.themarysue.com/pepper-armor-iron-man/
“You can dissect why The Avengers was the right movie with the right people and the right director at the time. But we feel the same way about Iron Man 3 now.” Robert Downey Jr.

Don’t panic! The brilliant Robert Downey Jr. is perfectly fine and there’s certainly no reason to think that the release of Iron Man 3 will be at all affected by this. SuperHero Hype received the following statement from Marvel Studios today telling them that production has been slightly delayed after the actor suffered an ankle injury during a the filming of a stunt scene..
Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.
At the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Downey actually revealed that he pushed to be involved in as many stunts as possible in this third instalment of the franchise,
